Happy Birthday Walt!
Here are a few of my favorite quotes from Walt Disney.
"Why do we have to grow up? I know more adults who have the children's approach to life. They're people who don't give a hang what the Joneses do. You see them at Disneyland every time you go there. They are not afraid to be delighted with simple pleasures, and they have a degree of contentment with what life has brought."
"Disneyland is like Alice stepping through the Looking Glass, to step through the portals of Disneyland will be like entering another world."
"I am not an economist, but things are not as bad as they seem. I have a great deal of confidence in our future."
"You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you."
"In bad times and good, I have never lost my sense of zest for life."
And of course everyone's favorite quote: "I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse."

Follow Me
I leave for Walt Disney World in a few days and will be posting updates from my trip on Twitter. If you want to follow me and see what I'm doing go to: http://twitter.com/lorilovestigger .
If you are not registered with Twitter, you will have to do so before being able to follow me.
I'll also try and post some photos on here too.

We'll Keep A Light On
My Walt Disney World trips have changed over the last year. My trips would mainly consist of getting to the E-ticket rides at rope drop, tour the rest of the park and not leave until they kicked me out. I called this HARD CORE! There was something about spending 16 hours in a WDW theme park that was rewarding (an exhausting at the same time). But now I've learned to slow down and look at the details all around me.
One of these details is the lights. Have you ever looked around and seen all the cool lights that are in the parks? As a new, fun series I'm going to post pictures of lights from around the parks. Maybe you'll know where they are located and maybe you won't. Either way-it's going to be fun.
So, does anyone know where this light is located?

Just keep baking, just keep baking....
When the weather looks like this outside---
what do we do? We bake, bake, bake!
what do we do? We bake, bake, bake!
My church is having their annual bazaar tomorrow so I always spend the day before baking for it. The women of the church make 6 different kinds of pies, 22 types of cookies for the cookie walk, hardtack, peanut brittle, noodles, sticky buns, sweet rolls, pumpkin rolls, beef vegetable soup and chicken rivoli soup. And the youth group makes the 4 varieties of bread and the apple dumplings. Then members of the church, like yours truly, donates other baked goods. This year I made a rum cake, 2 homemade angel food cakes, 4 monkey breads, banana bread, 2 lbs. of chocolate fudge, 2 lbs. of chocolate mint fudge and 5 lbs. of peanut butter fudge. No wonder I'm exhausted right now.
So when it looks like that outside---- this is what it looks like inside:
Even Harley thought it smelt pretty good.

2 months and counting--can you help?
Two months from now my friend and I will be participating in the 1/2 marathon in Walt Disney World. This is a 13.1 mile race that begins in the Epcot parking lot goes through the Magic Kingdom and then returns through Epcot and finishes in the Epcot parking lot. That just made me tired thinking about it.
I am running in support of The Dream Team Project, which raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. The number one wish of the seriously ill children that Make-A-Wish serves is to visit Walt Disney World. It is the goal of The Dream Team Project to help those wishes come true, so that a family can have some happy memories during a difficult time.
I have been very fortunate to visit WDW many times and on several of those trips I have seen these kids having their wishes fulfilled. Let me tell you, if you are there when they get to see Mickey Mouse or Cinderella for the first time and their face lights up, you can't help but shed a few tears. They are tears of sorrow but also tears of joy.
Would you please help me reach my goal of $1000.00 to help these kids?
I am asking you to sponsor me with a per-mile donation:
$10.00 per mile = $131.00
$7.50 per mile = $98.25
$5.00 per mile = $65.50
$2.50 per mile = $32.75
$1.00 per mile = $13.10
or any other amount that you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Donations may be made by credit card via The Dream Team Project's firstgiving.com page at http://firstgiving.com/dwtdreamteam . Please include a note in the comments section that the donation is for Lori Burke's Half Marathon Sponsorship.
Thank you for helping me make children's wishes come true and supporting me as I make one of my dreams come true: to complete this half marathon in honor of these children.

Call Me...Beep Me
My second favorite redhead is Kim Possible. How can you not like a girl that can kick any guys butt. I wish I could have done half the things she can do when I was 16. Except for kiss Ron- no thanks! A little too geeky for me.
My daughter likes to think she can do anything but I like to tell her that she can't. Unless she wants to dress as Kim for Halloween, then it's ok.

Little Blue Heaven
Little Blue Heaven is what my gram referred to her house as. Some of you know that she was reunited with her husband in heaven on Saturday, October 25th. I wanted you to see some pictures of her and know just how much of a wonderful woman she was.
She was 26 when she married my grandpa, Ray and 38 when she had my mom. And let me tell you that being 38 back then and having your first child got you some strange looks in the hospital. Most women back then were having baby #6 or 8 or 10.
She loved her church and church family but mostly she loved us. My mom and I always make the joke that after I was born my mom didn't exist anymore and after Cassidy was born I didn't exist anymore. We're a small family but she liked that because our little family would fill the pew in church. I can remember only one time that she got mad and yelled at me but I can't remember what it was for. She never really got mad at people or held grudges. She was always so happy and full of life. There are so many stories I could tell about her but the only important thing to know about my grammy is just how loved she was and how deeply she will be missed.
Safely Home
I am home in heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
