WDW Day 1: The Fun Begins! part 1

My trip to WDW started at 3:45 am Thursday morning as I got ready for my 6:35 flight. I usually don't take the first flight out but thought I'd try it this time. I lucked out and there were only 35 people on the whole plane. I had a row to myself so I stretched out and relaxed on the way down.

Within a half hour of landing I arrived at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I had visited the Lodge before but this was my first stay here. Since I did arrive early my room wasn't ready yet. So I changed clothes, checked my bags and headed over to Hollywood Studios to meet some friends.

I wasn't even on WDW property for an hour before I started causing problems. My ticket didn't want to scan and as I stood there continously putting the ticked in, I hear someone from the other side of the gate yelling "Don't let her in.". There stood Lou laughing at me. It was great seeing him within a week of our showing going up. I was excited to tell him about all the great feedback I received from it. I went to Guest Services for a new AP and then we went to meet Pat at Starring Rolls for a morning snack. As we sat there and talked for awhile, Greg, Ryan and Aileen showed up to join us. It was the first time I met them. What a great group of people.

Lou, Pat and I decided to head to Toy Story Mania. The wait was about 50 minutes. I love this ride but for whatever reason I got my lowest score on it that day. Lou, on the other hand, had the high score for the day when we left. Show off! We walked around HS for a little bit and ran into Ryan and Aileen again. We decided to head to ToT. I'm glad we did because we pretty much walked on the ride. The 5 of us were in the back row. L-R looking at the car: Ryan, Aileen, Pat, Lou and myself. During the first part of the ride Pat's cell phone starts playing The Muppet Song. We started laughing as she stops it right before we take the plunge. Pat and I were screaming so loudly that after the ride Lou couldn't hear anything. He said the screaming was in stereo. We then went to ride RNRC. Lou didn't join us this time. I think we scared him. It was a great ride. My friend, Ryan, has a picture of the ride photo over at his blog http://mainstreetgazette.blogspot.com/. Check it out. It's pretty funny. After this ride I decided I better head back to AKL and see if I can get into my room and relax a little before dinner at Raglan Road at 5:00.

More to come later.....

I'm Going Home!

Tomorrow (Thusday) at this time I'll be on a plane to my "happy place". I'll be in WDW from the 25th-28th and enjoying some much needed sun. I'm hoping the sunshine gets rid of this cold I have. But most importantly I'll be spending time with friends. Some old and some new.

Here's my agenda for my trip (subject to change, of course)

Thursday: arrive in MCO @ 9 am, pick up car, head to AKL and then off to The Studios. Go to DTD for a little shopping and meet up with friends at Raglan Rd. @ 5:00. Then off to Pleasure Island and Adventurer's Club for one last Kungaloosh and HOOPLA!

Friday: meet up with a friend at AKL, park at EPCOT and maybe head to the Magic Kingdom for a little bit, pick up our Expedition Everest Challenge race packets around 2:00 or before, go back to EPCOT, meet up with more friends for dinner at Flying Fish and then finish off the night in EPCOT for EMH. And of course, meeting up with some more friends.

Saturday: head over to AK for a little safari and some much needs Tigger love! Then at 12:30 at the Flaming Tree BBQ Lou Mongello is having a little meet and greet. Stop by and say "Mongello" if you're in the park that day. Since the Everest Challenge is this night I'll probably head back to AKL for some rest. Maybe hit the pool or hot tub for a little bit before eating and getting ready for the EEC. The EEC starts at 7 and then the after party starts at 10. This is going to be a lot of fun. As long as I don't kill myself in the obstacle course.

Sunday: drag my butt out of bed and have breakfast with some friends, go to EPCOT for Food and Wine Festival and watch Sheena Easton and sadly come home.

If you see me make sure to say hi or "mongello". I'm the redhead with the Tigger tattoos.

See you when I get back!

I'm a Superstar!!

Ok, well, not really. But I've received many great compliments from people that thought I did a good job as co-host. And most of them weren't even family. ;-) Just for the record, I have seen Blazing Saddles now 4 times since Lou and I recorded the show. It's funny how many people yelled (alright, picked on me) about that.

I just wanted to say THANKS!!

And stay tuned, you never know when I'll pop up again.

My role as Co-Host For A Day on the WDWRadio Show

The day has finally arrived that I get to record my Co-Hosting role on the WDWRadio Show. I've been excited and scared for this day to come. There's pressure to make sure I don't say the wrong thing or laugh uncontrollably. Or even worse-embarrass Lou. All of that pressure went away the minute we started talking. It was like having a conversation with a friend. Of course I was trying to ignore the fact that our conversation was being recorded and that thousands, ok maybe 20 people were going to hear it. (That's just a little joke Lou and I have going.)

I'm not going to tell you what we talked about. But we did have a few laughs along the way. And I think Lou messed up more that I did. Which was a relief to me. So stay tuned for the show on Sunday. Who knows what you're going to hear.

How I Got To Be Co-Host For A Day On The WDWRadio Show

Every year people gather in Camp Hill, PA for MagicMeets. MagicMeets is a gathering of Disney podcasters, bloggers, authors, travel agencies, webmasters but most importantly Disney fans. One part of MagicMeets is an auction. The auction is held by the DWT Dream Team. The Dream Team raises money to send seriously ill children to WDW. The Dream Team is made up of members that work their butts off to make the auction a HUGE success, especially the head Dream Teamer, Pat Whitson. Without her, the Dream Team would be lost. I am a proud member of the Dream Team. There is nothing like the feeling of knowing that you're helping put a smile on a child face.

One of the items in this years auction was to be Co-Host for a day on the WDWRadio show with Lou Mongello. The moment I heard this was going to be an auction item I knew I had to have it. Now Lou and I have been friends for a few years now and I always thought being on his podcast would be fun. The
day of the auction rolls around and I'm excited about bidding on "my item". I had a feeling I wasn't going to be the only person that wanted to be co-host. Little did I know that I was going to end up in a bidding war. It is a funny story but if I told you, you wouldn't have a reason to listen to the show then. The photo was taken after Lou found out that I won.

I thought winning was going to be the best part of my day but it wasn't. The best part came when the total was announced $20,000!!! This total is from multiple fundraising efforts...the auction, online donations and money given by MouseFan Travel. I think that is going to make a lot of children smile. I know it made a lot of people cry!

Why In The Heck Is It Called This?

Most Disney fans know where "We wants the redhead" comes from. But for those of you that don't, it's part of one of my favorite rides, Pirates of the Caribbean in the Magic Kingdom. During the wench auction, the pirates are yelling "we wants the redhead" at the well endowed redhead waiting to be auctioned off. Now my husband will tell you that during this part is when I start yelling "I'm right here", since I am a redhead. This is one reason why my blog is named what it is but I actually have another reason for it.

A good friend of mine said to me one day, while walking through Liberty Square, that I should blog. I looked at him funny and said "yeah right". He told me it could be called "We wants the redhead". Right then and there I fell in love with the name of it. So here I am many months later blogging on We Wants The Redhead. So I'd like to thank Glenn for the name and the push I needed to blog. And if you don't like it, then it's his fault. Ok, his and my other friends that said I should do this.

Next up, my co-host roll on the WDWRadio show.

More About Me

One thing you should know about me is that I'm a HUGE Disney fan. I love everything about it. From animated movies to Walt Disney World. I'm probably blog a lot about Disney since I have been to WDW many times and even have a few trips coming up. I'm very active on a few Disney forums so if you see me on them say hi or even "Mongello". For those of you that don't know what "Mongello" is I'll talk about that in a future post.
I plan on having fun on here but I can't promise that I'll post everyday or even every other day. And I'm sure I'll probably even say things you won't like or agree with. But just ask my husband, Erin, I like to give my opinion.
Hope everyone has a nice night!

My first blog post ever!

Ok, so today is the day I start blogging. Many friends of mine think I need to blog so here I am to talk about everything and nothing. I have no clue what I'm doing or how this even works, so please bear with me while I figure it out.

It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon but it's unseasonably warm and very humid today. No wonder my carpets don't want to dry from me scrubbing them. Today is going to be 87 and tomorrow 67. I just love PA weather.

I guess I can tell you that I live in a small town in PA where I think there are more deer and elk than people. This is the place where everyone comes to hunt. And where the "flatlanders" (aka those that live in the cities) come to gawk at the wildlife.

I guess that's it for now. Hopefully the next time I'll explain the name of my blog and post some pictures with it.

TTFN!!
